Little Blue Tea Cup

There are flowers dancing around the rim of my mother in laws formal blue tea set. I have held this cup in my hands so many times, but i stare at them for the first. There is tragedy in the air. It is astonishing the things you will begin to notice when you are deeply saddened. I am saddened. Death is too palpable. It is no longer far away when a dear one departs forever.

How beautiful it seems to talk about the circle of life. It makes perfect sense, this logic of nature, in philosophical discussions around a nice warm dinner table. But not when its happening to you.

The eye hangs on constant fixed surfaces, inanimate objects. Taking strength from the patterns and weaves and textures that may very well survive us all.
